The God Who Is With Us

Thursday's Reflection

Matthew 28:20 — Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Christ’s Great Commission is grounded in His great promise: “I am with you always.” The disciples were sent to the ends of the earth, but not alone. Emmanuel walks with His people to the world’s end. Mission succeeds not because of human effort, but because of divine presence.
This promise is woven through the book of Acts. When Peter stood before the Sanhedrin, the same council that condemned Jesus, he spoke with unexpected boldness—not because of his own courage, but because Christ was with him through the Holy Spirit. When Paul and Silas were chained in the inner prison at Philippi, their midnight songs shook the darkness. The earthquake that followed showed that the presence of Christ was stronger than walls, guards, or chains. Wherever the early believers went—whether preaching in synagogues, debating in marketplaces, or suffering in dungeons—the living Christ was their constant companion.
Jesus had already demonstrated this presence during His earthly ministry. When the disciples sailed into a violent storm on the Sea of Galilee, they feared the waves would swallow them. But the moment they cried out, Jesus rose and spoke peace to the wind and water. When two discouraged disciples walked the Emmaus road, Jesus Himself drew near and walked beside them, even when they did not recognize Him. From stormy seas to lonely roads, He showed that His followers are never alone—not then, not now, not ever.
Today, missionaries in remote jungles, urban churches, and digital ministries all testify that the same Jesus goes with them. The promise of His presence carries the church across centuries and continents. Wherever the gospel is preached, Emmanuel is still at work, confirming His Word and comforting His workers.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for going with us as we share Your good news. Strengthen every worker in Your harvest field, and let Your presence empower Your church until the end of the world. Amen.
