The God Who Heals

Monday's Reflection

Mark 5:34 — And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
The woman with the issue of blood had suffered for twelve years—not just in her body, but in her heart. She was isolated, considered unclean, and without hope. Yet when she heard about Jesus, she believed that even touching the hem of His garment would bring healing. Her simple act of faith broke through the crowd and touched the heart of God. In that moment, Jesus not only stopped her bleeding but also restored her dignity, peace, and place in the community. Her faith made her truly whole—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Even today, many stories and studies continue to reveal that faith and prayer have a real impact on healing. In a study by Dr. Leonard Leibovici in Israel, more than 3,000 hospital patients with serious infections were prayed for years after their illness. Those in the prayer group recovered faster and had shorter fevers than others, though none of the patients knew about the prayers. The “Great Prayer Experiment” (STEP Project) in the United States tested how intercessory prayer affected heart-surgery patients. Results varied, yet many participants reported greater calm, confidence, and peace simply knowing others were praying for them. These accounts suggest that prayer and faith often bring not only physical improvement but also deep inner restoration—peace, courage, and renewed purpose.
When Jesus said, “Thy faith hath made thee whole,” He described more than a physical cure. True healing reaches deeper than medicine can measure. Whether our bodies are healed or not, faith restores the soul. It gives peace where there was fear, hope where there was despair, and strength to endure. Just as science observes healing of the body, faith explains the healing of the heart—where wholeness begins and God’s peace takes root.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach us to reach out in faith like the woman who touched Your garment. Heal our hearts from fear and doubt, and give us peace in Your presence. Help us remember that true healing begins in trust and ends in the wholeness that only You can give. Amen.
