The God Who Reigns

Monday's Reflection
Daniel 4:35 — And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
This verse is not theory—it is the personal confession of a king who learned God’s sovereignty through humiliation. Nebuchadnezzar, the proud ruler of Babylon, once gloried in his empire, boasting, “Is not this great Babylon, which I have built?” But his pride brought judgment. God stripped him of reason, sending him to live among beasts until he acknowledged that “the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men.” When his understanding returned, so did his worship. The mighty emperor became a humble believer, declaring that none can stay God’s hand or question His ways. The man who once defied heaven became a witness to its authority.
Nebuchadnezzar’s story continues to speak to every generation that questions God’s control amid chaos. Kingdoms rise and fall, leaders boast and vanish, yet the will of God moves forward unhindered. What He allows, He uses; what He ordains, He completes. Even the most powerful rulers on earth ultimately serve His purposes—sometimes without realizing it. The same God who ruled over Babylon still reigns today, accomplishing His perfect plan through nations and individuals alike. When we grasp this truth, fear gives way to peace: history is not at the mercy of human power, but firmly in the hands of the Sovereign Lord.
Prayer: Sovereign Lord, help us to rest in Your unshakable will. Teach us humility when pride tempts us and faith when the world seems uncertain. May we trust that no power on earth can hinder Your purpose or silence Your truth. Amen.
