The God Who Is With Us

Wednesday's Reflection
Isaiah 41:10 — Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Fear loses its grip when we realize we are not abandoned. God’s promise is not vague encouragement but divine action: He strengthens, He helps, He upholds. The imagery of His “right hand” speaks of power and victory—He personally supports His people when they stumble.
On a transatlantic flight from Europe to the United States, a woman suddenly suffered a severe cardiac emergency mid-air. Panic swept through the cabin, but what no one initially realized was that the aircraft was carrying a remarkable group of passengers: fifteen leading cardiologists, all traveling to the same heart conference. Within moments they surrounded her, coordinated treatment, stabilized her condition, and kept her alive until the plane could make an emergency landing for further care. What could have become a tragedy turned into an extraordinary rescue—help was literally seated all around her long before the crisis began.
This incident reminds us that God’s presence often surrounds us long before we sense it. Just as the woman did not know that world-class specialists were only steps away, we often cannot see the provisions, protections, and helpers God has already placed in our path. His promise, “I will help thee,” means that He is never surprised by what surprises us. Before a storm ever forms, the right hand of God is already stretched out to uphold His children.
Believers throughout history have faced persecution and trial with this verse on their lips. It reminds us that courage is not the absence of fear but the presence of God. Whether in illness, financial hardship, or personal struggle, His righteous hand is strong enough to hold us steady and lead us forward.
Prayer: Gracious Father, calm our fears with the assurance of Your presence. Strengthen us when we feel weak, uphold us when we falter, and remind us that Your hand never lets go. Amen.
