The God Who Heals

Wednesday's Reflection
John 9:3 — Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
When the disciples saw a man born blind, they immediately assumed someone must have sinned to cause such suffering. Jesus shattered this simplistic equation, declaring that sometimes affliction serves not as punishment but as a platform for God's glory to be revealed. The man's blindness became the backdrop for a miracle that pointed many to faith in Christ. His darkness served to highlight the Light of the World.
This principle continues to operate today, often in ways that humble human understanding. Joni Eareckson Tada became a quadriplegic in a diving accident as a teenager, yet her disability became the foundation for a worldwide ministry to disabled individuals. She has often said: "My wheelchair has been God's gift to me. Without it, I might never have known His strength in my weakness." Similarly, Nick Vujicic was born without arms or legs, yet his testimony has inspired millions around the world. Both learned that God's glory can shine brightest through our deepest limitations. Their stories remind us that divine purposes often transcend human healing—that God can use our struggles to touch lives we could never reach in our strength, making our weaknesses become windows through which His grace becomes visible to a watching world.
Prayer: Lord, help us see Your purpose in our pain. Use our weakness as a testimony of Your strength, and let our lives reflect Your glory even through trials. Make our suffering a canvas on which Your grace is revealed. Amen.
