Salvation in Christ

🎧 Listen to Today's Devotional

Saturday's Reflection

Revelation 21:6 — And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
At the close of Scripture, God's final invitation rings out: salvation is free. Like water to the thirsty, it is offered to all who will come. Jesus, the Alpha and Omega—the beginning and the end—has finished the work of redemption and now offers eternal life as a gift to all who accept. The phrase "it is done" echoes Christ's cry from the cross: "It is finished." The work of salvation is complete. Nothing remains to be added, no price left to pay, no requirement left to fulfill. Christ has done it all.
The invitation is universal: "whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely" (Revelation 22:17). Salvation knows no racial boundaries, no social barriers, no economic prerequisites. The poorest beggar and the richest king stand on equal ground at the foot of the cross. All have sinned, and all need grace. The gospel is for everyone—for the religious and the irreligious, for the moral and the immoral, for those who have lived exemplary lives and those who have wasted their years in sin. The only requirement is thirst—a recognition of need and a willingness to receive what Christ freely offers.
As we close this week on salvation in Christ, let us remember that eternal life cannot be earned, purchased, or inherited. It is a gift, freely given to all who believe. Whether you are reading these words as a longtime believer or as someone still searching, the invitation stands: come and drink freely from the water of life. Confess Jesus as Lord, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved. Salvation is not complicated—it is simply Jesus. He is the way, the truth, and the life. In Him alone we find forgiveness, peace, and eternal hope.
"There is no limit to the usefulness of one who, by putting self aside, makes room for the working of the Holy Spirit upon his heart, and lives a life wholly consecrated to God." (Ellen G. White, The Desire of Ages, p. 250)
Prayer: Alpha and Omega, thank You for the free gift of salvation. We come thirsty and receive the water of life freely offered through Jesus Christ. May we never take this gift for granted, but live in gratitude and service all our days. In Jesus' name, Amen.
