The Word of God
🎧 Listen to Today's Devotional
Saturday's Reflection
Isaiah 55:11 — So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
God's Word never fails. Every promise He speaks comes to pass; every command He gives fulfills its purpose. Human words fade and fail, but God's Word endures forever and always accomplishes exactly what He intends. This is not because of human effort or eloquence, but because divine power accompanies every syllable spoken by the Almighty. When He speaks, creation obeys.
This promise should embolden every believer to share Scripture freely and trust God for results. We may plant a verse in conversation, share a tract, or teach a Bible study without seeing immediate fruit. But God's Word will not return void—it will accomplish His purposes in His timing. The seed may lie dormant for years before sprouting, but it will sprout. Isaiah uses agricultural imagery: God's Word goes forth like seed scattered by a farmer. Some falls on hard ground, some among thorns, but some falls on good soil and produces a harvest thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold.
As we close this week on the power of God's Word, let us renew our commitment to read it daily, meditate on it constantly, obey it fully, and share it boldly. Every verse we memorize, every passage we study, every truth we speak carries divine power to accomplish God's eternal purposes. The Word that created worlds, that sustains the universe, that raised Christ from the dead—this same Word dwells in our Bibles, waiting to transform our lives and reach the lost. Let us never take it for granted.
"If we would develop a character that will stand the test of the judgment, we must study the Word of God." (Ellen G. White, Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 266)
Prayer: Faithful God, thank You that Your Word never returns void. Give us faith to share Scripture boldly, knowing that You will accomplish Your purposes through it. May we treasure Your Word, live by it, and proclaim it until Jesus comes. Amen.
