The Spirit of Christmas

Sunday's Reflection
Acts 20:35 — I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Christmas is not only about what God gave us in Christ but also about how His gift transforms our own giving. The season invites us to open our hands and hearts—to family, to neighbors, to strangers in need. The true spirit of Christmas is generosity born from gratitude, service born from love.
Throughout history, believers have discovered that the joy of Christmas deepens when we move from receiving to giving, from consumption to compassion, from self-focus to service. This week we explore how the gift of Christ reshapes every aspect of our lives—our generosity, our compassion, our forgiveness, our love, and our hospitality. Each lesson invites us not merely to celebrate Christmas but to become Christmas—living embodiments of the grace, mercy, and love that came down at Bethlehem. When we give cheerfully, serve sacrificially, forgive freely, love genuinely, and welcome generously, we reflect the very heart of Emmanuel who gave everything to welcome us home.
"He whose heart is filled with love for Christ will find in the busiest life opportunities for service." (Ellen G. White, The Ministry of Healing, p. 502)
Prayer: Lord Jesus, as we celebrate Your birth, teach us to live out the spirit of Christmas every day. Transform our receiving into giving, our blessings into service, our gratitude into generosity. Make us channels of Your love to a world in need. Amen.
