The Gift of Grace

🎧 Listen to Today's Devotional

Saturday's Reflection

2 Corinthians 9:15 — Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
This week we have explored the spiritual lessons hidden in every true gift. We have learned that grace gives what cannot be earned, that sacrifice reveals the depth of love, that generosity multiplies when shared, that timing demonstrates wisdom, and that presence is the most precious gift of all. Each lesson has pointed us toward a deeper truth: that God Himself is the supreme Giver, and He has given us a gift so magnificent that Paul calls it "unspeakable"—beyond words, exceeding description, defying adequate expression.
Every principle we have studied finds its fulfillment in one Person. The grace Abraham received pointed to a greater covenant. The sacrifice of the widow's mite foreshadowed a greater sacrifice. The multiplication Gladys experienced reflected a greater abundance. The perfect timing Joseph witnessed revealed a greater plan. The presence Moses treasured anticipated a greater companionship. All these gifts were shadows, hints, whispers of the Gift that would one day come down from the Father of lights—the Gift wrapped not in paper but in swaddling clothes, delivered not to a palace but to a stable, received not by the powerful but by the humble. This Gift cost heaven everything but was given freely to a world that did not deserve it, could not earn it, and often did not even recognize it. Yet it remains available to all who will receive it—the unspeakable gift of God's own Son, in whom all these lessons of grace, sacrifice, generosity, timing, and presence converge into one beautiful, life-transforming reality.
"In the gift of Jesus, God gave heaven. With this gift He gave all heaven. He gave all that heaven contained." (Ellen G. White, That I May Know Him, p. 345)
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your unspeakable gift. We have seen glimpses of Your generosity throughout this week, and now we understand that every gift has been pointing us toward Jesus. As we prepare our hearts, help us to receive Him afresh—not as a distant doctrine, but as the living expression of Your grace, sacrifice, generosity, timing, and presence. Amen.
