2 Corinthians 5:20 — Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
The word "ambassador" is a striking way to describe an ordinary believer. An ambassador is someone who represents their country in a foreign place — who speaks and acts on behalf of a king they serve, in a land that is not their home. Paul says that is what every Christian is. Wherever we live and work, we are representing Christ to the people around us, whether we ever say a word or not. The question is never whether we are representing Him — we always are. The question is whether we are representing Him well.
For a lot of us, sharing our faith feels intimidating. We imagine it means standing on a street corner, or winning an argument, or having all the right answers ready. So we stay quiet, leaving the work of witness to pastors and missionaries and "people who are good at that sort of thing." But that is not what an ambassador does. An ambassador mostly represents their king through ordinary, consistent presence — through how they treat people, how they live, the relationships they build, and the occasional honest word at the right moment. Most witness happens not on platforms but across kitchen tables.
This week we look at what everyday witness actually looks like — in a hostile professor who was won to Christ not by an argument but by a pastor who simply welcomed her into his home again and again, in a timid, unlikely believer whose quiet, personal witness helped shape the Reformation, and in the Scriptures that free us from thinking witness depends on our eloquence. The question for the week is gentle but real: in the ordinary places where God has put you, what kind of ambassador are you?

Prayer: Father, help us to see ourselves as Your ambassadors in the ordinary places of our lives. Free us from the fear that witness requires eloquence, and teach us to represent Christ well through how we live and love. Amen.
