Tuesday's Reflection

Psalm 19:1-3 — The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
David looked up at the night sky and heard it speaking. The heavens, he says, declare the glory of God — not in words, but in a language everyone on earth can understand. A shepherd in ancient Israel, a farmer in Asia, a scientist with a telescope, a child lying in the grass all look up at the same stars and receive the same testimony. Creation preaches in a silent language that crosses every border and needs no translation. Its voice reaches to the ends of the earth.
What creation declares is God's glory — His greatness, His power, His artistry. The sheer scale of the universe testifies to a God beyond our comprehension; the delicate beauty of a sunset testifies to a God who loves beauty for its own sake. Day after day, night after night, the testimony never stops. The sun rises without fail, the seasons turn in their order, the stars hold their courses — and all of it points beyond itself to the One who set it in motion and holds it together. The creation is not God, but it is unmistakably the work of God.
This means that no one is truly without a witness to God. Even those who have never held a Bible or heard the gospel live under a sky that speaks. Creation cannot tell them everything — it cannot tell them about the cross or the forgiveness of sins — but it can tell them that God is real, that He is powerful, and that He is worthy of awe. For those of us who do have the Scriptures, creation adds its voice to God's written Word, so that everything around us echoes what the Bible declares: there is a Creator, and He is glorious. When we learn to listen, the whole world becomes a testimony.
Prayer: Lord, tune our ears to the silent speech of the skies. Let the beauty and order of what You have made lift our hearts to worship. May we never look at Your creation without remembering the glory of the One who made it. Amen.
