The Power of Prayer

Saturday's Reflection

Psalm 145:18 — The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.
God promises His nearness to all who sincerely call upon Him. Prayer is not a ritual for the elite but a gift for every believer. The assurance that God is near brings comfort in loneliness, courage in trials, and strength in weakness. To call upon Him “in truth” means to come honestly, without pretense, knowing that He welcomes us as we are.
In 2010, when a massive earthquake struck Haiti, survivors buried under rubble cried out to God. Many later testified that they felt His presence with them in the darkness, giving peace until rescuers arrived. One woman sang hymns for hours under collapsed concrete, declaring, “The Lord was with me—I was never alone.” Such testimonies remind us that God’s nearness is not limited by place or circumstance. Wherever His children cry out sincerely, He draws near to comfort and deliver.
“Prayer is the key in the hand of faith to unlock heaven’s storehouse, where are treasured the boundless resources of Omnipotence.” (Ellen G. White, Steps to Christ, p. 94)
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the privilege of prayer that connects us with Your power. Teach us to use this key daily, unlocking heaven’s blessings for ourselves and others. Amen.
