The Power of Prayer

Thursday's Reflection

Luke 18:1 — Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.
Jesus reminds us that prayer is the antidote to discouragement. In a world filled with delays, disappointments, and difficulties, fainting hearts easily give up. But prayer renews strength, enabling us to keep trusting when answers seem far away. Persistent prayer builds patient endurance, anchoring us in God’s promises.
In Plateau State, Nigeria, during an overnight attack in April 2025, believers in a small village sought refuge inside their church. Instead of panicking, they lifted their voices in prayer throughout the night. By dawn, the gunmen had withdrawn, leaving the congregation unharmed. The survivors later testified that their deliverance was an unmistakable answer to prayer. Stories like this remind us that prayer not only strengthens our hearts but can literally change history. When we refuse to faint and continue to pray, God moves in ways unseen until the right moment comes.
Prayer: Lord, when fear and fatigue tempt me to give up, remind me that You never grow weary. Strengthen my faith to keep praying when hope seems dim. Teach me to trust that Your timing is perfect and that every prayer whispered in faith reaches Your heart. Amen.
