Sharing the Gospel

Sunday's Reflection

Romans 1:16 — For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.
The gospel is good news that transforms lives. It is not a secret to keep but a message to proclaim with boldness and love. Paul declared he was not ashamed because the gospel carries the very power of God to save. When the apostle wrote these words, he knew the cost of such boldness—he had been beaten, imprisoned, and rejected for preaching this message. Yet shame never touched his heart because he had witnessed the gospel's power firsthand: murderous Saul transformed into missionary Paul, hardened jailers converted at midnight, entire cities turned upside down by the simple proclamation of Christ crucified and risen.
We are called to the same boldness, not because we are naturally courageous, but because we carry supernatural power. The gospel we proclaim is not human philosophy or religious opinion—it is the very power of God unto salvation. Every believer becomes a witness to this transforming force, whether through words, actions, or simple kindness that points to Jesus Christ as Savior. To share the gospel is to extend hope to hopeless hearts. Each testimony plants a seed that the Holy Spirit can grow into eternal life. A young businessman once nervously shared his faith with a colleague during lunch, stammering through his words and feeling utterly inadequate. Years later, that colleague stood before hundreds as a powerful evangelist, tracing his spiritual journey back to that awkward but sincere conversation. This is the mystery of the gospel—God uses our small offerings of faith to accomplish His great purposes of salvation.
Ellen G. White reminds us: “The gospel is to be presented, not as a lifeless theory, but as a living force to change the life. God desires that the receivers of His grace shall be witnesses to its power.” (The Ministry of Healing, p. 99). The message entrusted to us is not mere doctrine to memorize, but a living testimony of transformation that must shine through both word and deed. When people see changed lives, they see the power of the gospel in action.
She also wrote: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature,” is Christ's command to His followers. Not that all are called to be ministers or missionaries in the ordinary sense of the term; but all may be workers with Him in giving the ‘glad tidings’ to their fellow men.” (The Ministry of Healing, p. 148). This means the privilege of gospel work is not for a select few—it is the daily calling of every believer, whether in the pulpit, the workplace, or the home.
