Lesson 9 (August 23 - August 29, 2025)
The Lord Our King
Memory Verse: "The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; He sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake" (Psalm 99:1, NIV).
Lesson 9, “The Lord Our King,” highlights God’s sovereignty as King over Israel and all nations. Unlike earthly kings, His rule is just, righteous, and everlasting.
God’s Kingship
God’s throne is established in holiness and power. Israel’s security comes not from armies or alliances but from trusting their true King.
Rejecting False Kings
When Israel sought human kingship, it revealed distrust of God’s rule. The lesson warns against placing hope in human systems rather than in God.
Christ Connection
Jesus is the promised King from David’s line, whose reign is eternal. His kingdom is not of this world but brings justice, peace, and salvation.
Applications
1. Honor God as your true King in daily life.
2. Resist the temptation to trust worldly powers for ultimate security.
3. Live as citizens of Christ’s kingdom now.
4. Look forward with hope to His eternal reign.
✨ In essence: God’s kingship is the source of true security and hope. His reign is eternal, and we are called to live under His rule with trust and obedience.
