Lesson 8 (February 14 - February 20, 2026)
The Preeminence of Christ
Memory Verse: "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist" (Colossians 1:15–17, NKJV).
Lesson 8, “The Preeminence of Christ,” presents a sweeping vision of who Jesus truly is. Drawing from Colossians and related passages, the lesson affirms Christ’s supreme authority in creation, redemption, and ongoing sustenance of the universe. Paul emphasizes that Christ is not merely prominent but preeminent—above all things and central to all reality. Christ Reveals the Invisible God Jesus is described as the image of the invisible God. Through Christ, God’s character, power, and purposes are made fully known. To know Christ is to know the Father. Creator of All Things The lesson stresses that all things were created by Christ and for Christ. Nothing exists independently of Him. Every realm—visible or invisible—owes its origin and purpose to Jesus. Sustainer and Lord Christ not only created the universe but continues to hold it together. His sustaining power governs history, nature, and the spiritual realm, assuring believers that nothing lies outside His control. Supreme in Redemption The One who created all things is also the One who redeems them. Christ’s work of salvation restores what sin has broken, uniting creation and redemption in a single divine mission. Christ Connection Jesus stands at the center of Scripture, history, and salvation. His supremacy calls for worship, obedience, and complete trust, as He alone is worthy of first place in every aspect of life. Applications 1. Give Christ first place in belief, worship, and daily living. 2. Trust Christ’s authority over creation and history. 3. Find assurance in Christ’s sustaining power. 4. Reject views that diminish Christ’s divine status. 5. Live in grateful response to Christ’s redemptive work. ✨ In essence: “The Preeminence of Christ” teaches that Jesus is supreme over all creation and redemption, deserving absolute allegiance and wholehearted worship.
