Lesson 13 (December 20 - December 26, 2025)
Choose This Day!
Memory Verse: "And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" (Joshua 24:15, NKJV).
Lesson 13, “Choose This Day!”, brings the book of Joshua to its climax with a call to immediate and personal decision. After reviewing God's goodness and mighty acts, Joshua urges Israel to make a clear choice: serve the Lord wholeheartedly or follow other gods. No one drifts into faithfulness—each person must choose. Remembering God's Goodness Joshua reminds the people of everything God has done for them—from Abraham's calling to their victories in Canaan. Gratitude is the foundation of obedience. When we remember God's leading, our hearts are drawn to serve Him. A Call to Decide Today Joshua's challenge is urgent: choose “this day” whom you will serve. Spiritual compromise often begins with indecision. Faithfulness requires deliberate, daily choices to follow God. The Danger of Drifting Joshua warns Israel that mixing with surrounding nations or adopting their practices would weaken their loyalty to God. Believers today face similar dangers through cultural pressures, modern idols, and subtle compromises that shift the heart away from God. Covenant Renewal and Witness Israel responds by declaring their intention to serve the Lord. Joshua records their pledge and sets up a stone as a witness, reminding them that serving God is both a privilege and a responsibility. Christ Connection Just as Joshua called the people to choose, Jesus calls His followers to daily discipleship: to deny self, take up the cross, and follow Him. Choosing Christ is not a one-time decision but a lifelong, joyful commitment. Applications 1. Make daily choices for God—faithfulness requires constant intentionality. 2. Recall God's goodness—gratitude strengthens commitment. 3. Guard against compromise—small choices shape spiritual direction. 4. Lead your home spiritually—Joshua's example challenges families today. 5. Let your decision for Christ be visible—your life is a testimony of whom you serve. ✨ In essence: “Choose This Day!” teaches that serving God begins with a decisive choice and continues with daily commitment, strengthened by remembering God's goodness and rejecting all competing loyalties.
