3rd Quarter, 2025
Lesson 13 (September 20 - September 26, 2025)
The Tabernacle
Memory Verse: “Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. . . . For the cloud of the Lord was above the tabernacle by day, and fire was over it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys” (Exod. 40:34, 38, NKJV).
Lesson 13, “The Tabernacle” (Exodus 25–40; Hebrews 8–10), concludes the quarter by focusing on God’s desire to dwell with His people. The sanctuary was not simply an ancient tent—it was a living parable of God’s plan of salvation, from creation and covenant to redemption and final restoration.
God’s Nearness
The tabernacle showed that God is not remote or abstract but present among His people. The cloud and fire guided Israel in every stage of their journey, symbolizing His constant care. Today, His Spirit is the living presence in believers’ lives.
Christ-Centered Symbolism
Every element—the altar, the lampstand, the ark of the covenant—pointed forward to Jesus Christ, the true High Priest and sacrifice. The earthly priesthood anticipated His once-for-all atonement and His ongoing intercession in the heavenly sanctuary.
Worship and Obedience
The careful instructions for building the tabernacle teach that worship is not casual. God values reverence, joyful obedience, and wholehearted offerings. True worship balances holiness with joy, order with gratitude.
Mission
The sanctuary was both a house of worship and a witness to the nations. God’s presence in Israel was meant to reveal His character of love and invite the world into covenant relationship.
Christ Connection
The tabernacle finds its fulfillment in Christ: “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14). He is our sanctuary, our High Priest, and our sacrifice. The ultimate dwelling of God with humanity will be fulfilled in the New Jerusalem, where “the tabernacle of God is with men” (Rev. 21:3).
