4th Quarter, 2025
Lesson 1 (September 27 - October 3, 2025)
Recipe for Success
Memory Verse: "Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go ” (Joshua 1:7, NKJV).
Lesson 1, “Recipe for Success” (Joshua 1), marks the transition from Moses to Joshua. Though leaders change, God’s covenant remains constant: His promises are sure, and His people are called to respond with obedience, courage, and trust. Success for Joshua—and for God’s people today—is not found in military power, human wisdom, or wealth, but in living by God’s Word and resting in His presence. Continuity of Leadership Moses has passed, but God’s mission continues. Joshua is commissioned as the new leader, empowered by the Spirit, and reminded to be strong and courageous. Covenant Pattern God first blesses and delivers, then calls for obedience (Gen 12; Exod 20; Josh 1). The law is not legalism but wisdom—living in harmony with God’s character of love. Recipe for Success Meditate on the Word, obey God’s commandments, trust His promises, and rely on His presence. True prosperity flows from spiritual alignment, not worldly gain. Christ Connection Joshua prefigures Jesus, the “new Joshua,” who leads us into the ultimate promised land. As Israel faced Canaan, we face the call to enter heavenly Canaan by faith. Applications 1. Leadership as Spiritual Calling True leadership, like Joshua’s, rests not on charisma or strategy but on being Spirit-filled. Today, spiritual leadership is needed in both church and “secular” arenas—leadership marked by integrity, wisdom, and reliance on God. 2. Trust in God’s Promises As Israel stood at the Jordan, we too stand on the edge of the heavenly Canaan. God’s promises are sure, but they call for faith, courage, and obedience (Phil. 1:6). 3. Strength and Courage in Daily Life Being strong and courageous applies to modern challenges—in our families, schools, workplaces, and communities. Obedience often requires courage to stand against cultural pressures and personal fears. 4. Rest in Christ Joshua’s rest in the land was temporary; ultimate rest is found in Jesus. Faith in Christ’s priestly ministry assures us that God will finish what He has begun. ✨ In essence: The lesson calls us to courage, obedience, and faith in God’s promises, anchored in His Word and presence. Just as Joshua’s generation had to step into God’s future, we are invited to trust Christ, the true Joshua, who leads us to eternal rest.
